General

  1. The KNORR Great Carvery Competition 2018 (the “Competition”) is open only to hotels and pubs who serve carveries a minimum of five days a week and are registered in the Island of Ireland (Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland). Employees must seek the permission of their employer in order to enter the establishment into the promotion.
  2. No purchase necessary. To enter, go to www.ufs.com/carvery and complete the online entry form.  Entrants will be automatically entered into one of two categories:
    • Category 1: the Pub Carvery category. This category is for all public houses who serve Carveries. Within this category, entrants will be subdivided into the following regions. Leinster, Munster, Connacht and Ulster.
    • Category 2: the Hotel Carvery category. This is for Hotels who serve Carveries Within this category; entrants will be subdivided into the following regions. Leinster, Munster, Connacht and Ulster.
  3. All entries will be automatically entered into a prize draw to win a Apple iPad. There is one Apple iPad Wi-Fi 128GB Space Grey to be won.
  4. Start Date: 1st May 2018. Closing date for receipt of entries is 00.00 GMT on 30 June 2018. All entries must be received by the closing date. Any entries submitted after the closing date will not be entered.
  5. Entry must be made online. One entry per person and per establishment.
  6. No applications from agents, third parties, organised groups or applications automatically generated by a computer will be accepted. Incomplete or illegible entries or those not in accordance with the entry instructions will not be accepted.
  7. Responsibility is not accepted for entries lost as a result of any network, computer hardware or software failure of any kind. The Promoter shall not be liable for any loss, damage or consequential damage of any nature in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise caused by acceptance of the terms and conditions.
  8. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for entries or nominations that are delayed, corrupted, lost/mislaid or otherwise rendered invalid, under the sole discretion of the Promoter, owing to technical errors or malfunctions.
  9. The winners’ details (name and county) will be made available on request to those writing to the KNORR Great Carvery Competition 2018, Unilever Food Solutions Ireland - 20 Riverwalk, National Digital Park, Citywest Business Campus, Dublin 24 within ten weeks after the winners are announced, enclosing a stamped SAE.

 

KNORR Great Carvery Timeline:

  1. The KNORR Great Carvery Competition consists of 4 rounds – Registration, Shortlist, Mystery Dining and winners announced.
  2. Round 1: Registration: Pubs and hotels that offer carveries are encouraged to enter. Closing date for receipt of entries is 00.00 GMT on 30 June 2018.
  3. Round 2: Shortlist Nominees: Following registration, based on the quality of entry, a shortlist of 3 hotels and 3 pubs from each of the 4 regions (Munster/Leinster/Connacht/Ulster) will go through to round 3. In total, 24 entrants will go through. These 24 entrants will be announced on the website www.ufs.com/carvery on the 16 July and nominees will also be contacted by their local sales representative.
  4. Round 3: Mystery Dining: A shortlist of 24 entries will be visited without prior notice for assessment between 17/07/18 to 9/09/18 by the mystery dining team who are a team of industry specialists. This team will judge their experience on the following judging criteria; equipment and set up, hygiene, value for money, staff (appearance and friendliness), food presentation, overall taste, taste of meat, vegetables, gravy and potatoes.
  5. Round 4: Provincial Winners Announcement: The winners of the hotel and pub categories from each region (Munster/Leinster/Connacht/Ulster) will be announced on the website www.ufs.com/carvery and on Unilever Food Solutions’ social media channels on the 10 September and will be contacted by their local sales representative.
  6. Final Round: Overall KNORR Great Carvery Winners Announcement: The overall pub and hotel of the year winners will be announced on the website www.ufs.com/carvery and on Unilever Food Solutions’ social media channels on the 21 September and will be contacted by their local sales representative.

 

Prize draw and Prize list:

  1. The first entry drawn at random by an independent judge from all entries received by the closing date will win the Apple iPad (Wi-Fi 128GB Space Grey). The Apple iPad will be sent to the winner either by post or via one of the Unilever Food Solutions representatives in the area. In the event of any dispute the decision of the judge is final. In the event of unforeseen circumstances the Promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize for an alternative of equal or greater value. No correspondence will be entered into.
  2. Shortlist Nominees: All entries that are subjected to mystery dining will receive a framed certificate.
  3. Provincial Winners: The winners of the hotel and pub categories from each province will receive a framed certificate, a Chef Jacket and a Wusthof 6 Piece Silverpoint Rolls Set.
  4. Overall Winners: The overall winners of the pub and hotel category will receive a framed certificate, 200,000 UFS Chef Reward Points, a Wüsthof 7 Piece Silverpoint Rolls Set, a plaque and a Chef Jacket. No cash alternatives will be offered. Furthermore a promotional video will be created interviewing the overall winners as Unilever Food Solutions KNORR Great Carvery of the Year Winners that will feature on the website www.ufs.com/carvery and on Unilever Food Solutions’ social media channels as well as shared with media.
  5. All entrants who reach Round 3 may be required to participate in publicity arising from this Competition.
  6. By entering the Competition, all entrants will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by the rules and consent to the transfer of their personal data to the Data Controller for the purposes of the administration of this Competition and any other purposes to which the entrant has consented. All entry instructions form part of the rules.
  7. As concerns Northern Ireland hotels and public houses, these terms and conditions and any issues or disputes which may arise out of or in connection with these terms and conditions (whether such disputes or issues are contractual or non-contractual in nature, such as claims in tort, for breach of statute or regulation or otherwise) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law. Entrants hereby irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts to settle any such dispute or issues.  As concerns Republic of Ireland hotels and public houses, these terms and conditions shall be governed by Irish law and the courts of the Republic of Ireland shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
